Meet Alex

Alex Covert is a self-taught painter, performer, and workshop facilitator originally from the United States and currently based in Amsterdam.

Her current creative focus is on the intersection of painting and performance. Her work explores the power of vulnerability as she attempts to shed her conditioned layers to discover her authentic self.

Facilitating co-creation workshops since 2021, Alex helps people from all walks of life to reacquaint themselves with their inner creator, connect with each other, and move through creative blocks.

She spent years leaning into her conditioning, convincing herself that she was not an artist, and working as a lawyer in New York. It wasn't until August 2021, after many years spent supporting other artists as both a lawyer and performer, that she first dared to show her own creative work.

Alex's performances are about taking off masks – there is no makeup, no costume, no role to play, and no choreography. She bares herself completely, showing the audience her soul, her creative process, and her unfiltered form.

Connective Co-Creation: A Team-Building Workshop

"Imagine an art class focused on freedom, play, and connection. In this workshop, there is no wrong, right, good, or bad. Just expression, unbridled creativity, co-creation and non-attachment."

Participants work together on one canvas in small groups of 3–4, switching groups halfway through.

Destruction & Creation: Anger Expression for Women

"A full day in community to get in touch with and openly express our anger."

Sharing circle in Amsterdam, demolishing a car together, and a guided creative session.

Office Mural: Team-Building Workshop

Alex designs a mural reflecting team values, executes complex elements, and invites all team members to participate in painting over one week, culminating in a final reveal.

Studio Sessions: Create Your Own Artwork

"Have you been longing to get back in touch with your inner child, to try something new, or to create an artwork for your home?"

Two three-hour sessions in Alex's Amsterdam studio. All materials provided, guidance included, 50 × 50 cm canvas to take home.

"A visual journey of vulnerability, creativity, play, and experimentation – think massive canvas and lots of expressive movement."

This show is best done in collaboration with live music or a DJ's set (1.5–2 hours) with blacklights for added visual effect.

"Together with live improvised piano music, this piece is a visual exploration of the vulnerability of creativity and the resulting experience of empowerment."

The artist removes layers – including a blindfold to restrict sight – while creating artwork without attachment to the final piece.
